Quick Cherry Crunch

NO Picture - we ate it too quick!!

1 stick butter

1 1/2 cups granola (Sunbelt with almonds is what I used)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup self rising flour (or ad 1/2 tsp baking powder)
1/4 tsp salt
1 can cherry pie filling

Preheat the oven. Grease a 9x9 baking pan or casserole.
Melt butter over low heat in skillet. put granola in a plastic bag and crush it - measure it after you crush it and not before.
Add to melted butter with flour and brown sugar and salt. Remove from heat and stir til well mixed. Divide the dough into half.
Pat 1/2 of the dough into a square or round baking pan (deeper than a pie pan). Pour the cherries on top (I removed about 1/3 cup of the syrup so it wouldn't be too soggy).
Pat the rest of the dough on top of the cherries and bake covered for about 20 min - uncover and bake about 10min more to crisp on top.
This is a hearty dessert and one pan will serve about 8-10.
