1/2 lb okra
2-3 tbsp bacon grease
salt and pepper
Use fresh okra and slice and cut off ends.Or use frozen(unthawed). Heat grease in iron skillet. Add okra. Toss in the oil until bright green. Lower heat and add 1/4 cup water, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer, turning frequently, until the liquid evaporates and it starts to sizzle. Raise heat and fry. If it starts sticking after all the liquid and okra slime is gone, add a little more oil or grease. Cook turning until the okra starts to brown and fall apart.
