Homemade Spaghetti

1/2 lb ground beef or Italian sausage bulk or chopped
1/2 med onion chopped
2-3 tbsp bell pepper chopped
1-2 cloves garlic
1 can or jar spaghetti sauce or can of stewed tomatoes
1/2 tsp sugar

Brown meat in skillet with onions, pepper and garlic. Drain. Add spaghetti sauce or tomatoes. Adjust seasonings. (red pepper flakes if you like it hot) If the sauce is bland or if you used plain tomatoes, add Italian seasoning or add pinch each basil, thyme, oregano, rosemary. You can also add mushrooms with the tomatoes, but they soak up the grease if you put them in with the other vegetables. Simmer the sauce until the vegetables are done.
Cook pasta and make a salad and garlic bread.
